Crypto Investigations Academy CIA

Our flagship course, this comprehensive five-day training equips both new and experienced investigators with the essential skills to combat cryptocurrency-related crimes. Participants will learn the fundamentals of blockchain technology, hands-on tracing of crypto transactions, and the use of advanced forensic tools (including a trial commercial license). The course covers key areas such as crypto money laundering, wallet management, legal processes for obtaining VASP records, strategies for prosecuting crypto crimes and recovering assets via seizure for victims and forfeiture for agencies. With practical exercises and real-world case studies, this course ensures you're fully prepared to tackle the unique challenges of modern cryptocurrency investigations. This course culminates in a mock investigation to bring these skills together and additionally, students are encouraged to bring real life cases to leave with real-world actionable results.
Advanced Crypto Investigations
Prerequisite: CIA or Equivalent
Days: 3
This three day course picks up where the Crypto Investigations Academy ends and takes students through a full case from first lead to asset seizure. Students learn to profile wallets by their behavior, recognize the indicators of coordination that tie separate wallets into a single network, and backtrace funds to their source to determine who is really financing the activity. Instruction covers the obfuscation techniques investigators meet in real cases, including decentralized exchanges, swapping services, cross-chain bridges, and privacy coins. The course is built around practical exercises: students trace live funds staged on public blockchains, handle seized devices and seed phrases, and then work in teams through a scenario that includes a suspect interview, a search for physical and digital crypto artifacts, and the tracing that turns that evidence into actionable intelligence. Students leave having worked a complete investigation, not just a trace.
Block Audit Tracing Standard
Prerequisite: CIA (or equivalent knowledge)
Days: 2
Tracing cryptocurrency is one skill. Proving your trace in court is another. This two day certification course teaches the Block Audit Tracing Standard (B.A.T.S.), a methodology that brings forensic accounting discipline to blockchain tracing so that every dollar is accounted for from the victim to the final destination. Students learn a standardized notation for documenting each hop, a wallet classification system that separates what is proven from what is suspected, and accepted accounting methods for following specific funds through commingled wallets. The result is a trace that is mathematically validated, repeatable by another examiner, and clear enough to walk a judge or jury through step by step. Students apply the standard to case exercises throughout the course and complete a certification exam at the end.
